Francis J. McVane, JD

(1914-1984)

Born in Hartford, Francis (Frank) graduated from Hartford Public HS and received his BA from Trinity College in 1937. A member of the Alpha Tau Kappa fraternity, he studied law at Catholic University, and earned his LLB in 1940.  He worked at the Federal Bureau of Naturalization and Immigration of the Department of Justice in Washington DC. He was appointed chief prosecutor in Circuit Court 15 in New Britain in 1960. That same year he founded his law firm.  In 1967, McVane & Bellobuono et al was formed, which he headed till the time of his death.  He also was a former judge at the Town of Rocky Hill. Frank’s daughter M. Patricia McVane upholds the family dedication to the rule of law in her role as founding partner in the current partnership of McVane,Bellobuono,Kuzmak,Wiezalis & Bibisi, LLP  that still bears her family name.

Michael C. Bellobuono, JD

(1941-2012)

Michael C. Bellobuono of Wethersfield, graduated Cromwell HS, studied business at Dean Junior College and Babson College and went on to get his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University. After serving as a state prosecutor in Georgia and Hartford,CT he entered criminal law practice with his friend and mentor Francis J. McVane. He went on to practice law in the South End for 45 years.  He was founding partner with M.Patricia McVane, of the law firm McVane, Bellobuono, Kuzmak, Wiezalis & Bibisi—which he said, after his family, was the most important thing in his life. Michael was also known for his entrepreneurial involvement with First & Last Tavern, Middletown and Bagel Boys.

Attorney Bellobuono served as a commissioner of the MDC Wethersfield, with the Hartford Chamber of Commerce and was acknowledged by the chamber with the ‘Man of the Year Award’ in 1993 for his valuable community contributions.
